There were 5 seeded Brits in singles QFs today - and they all lost to lower-ranked players. (some of them under-ranked, of course, but still ... 0-5 ...)

Here's hoping the lone unseeded Brit in a QF (Ed) can save the day - he should be starting about now but doesn't seem to be on a live scored court.

He's interviewing the winner now ... Tennys Sandgren

0-6 for the Brits today

Ed lost in 3 sets but was a set and 5-3 up!

Sounds like both played well though.

My fingers are still crossed for him.  Makes typing a bit difficult, though...! wink  If he does get past Sandgren, he'll face the Brazilian qualifier with the Italian-sounding surname in the SF, Pedro Zerbini (WR 1226!).

Just noticed an email (sent an hour after the match was due to start, but I only saw it another hour later) from Ken Thomas saying Ed's singles QF and doubles Final are on Radio Tennis today ... but I think the singles match must have already finished because 'mellow' music is being played at the moment.

To fill in time while Ed gets his 'suitable rest', Ken's telling us where Futures are being played this week - countries include "the United Arab Emery" no biggrin

Ed's serve got broken in the first game but since then, they haven't looked back - his partner Mirahzduh (actually Mirzadeh, but never mind wink) is now serving for the 1st set at *5-1 ... and they take it 6-1
