Not just for us but for the Russians as well. As I was watching the Murray-Donskoy encounter last night Robbie Koenig commented that he had heard Donskoy was looking to represent Uzbekistan in Davis Cup.
It remains a pity, Davis Cup wise, that the abence of Andy turns an extremely winnable tie into a pretty doubtful one.
But he chooses for his own selfish reasons, which are arguably perfectly understandable ( he no doubt feels his clay court prep is very important for him ) to miss out.
The obvious names, James Ward and Jamie Baker, after starting the year promisingly, have gone off the boil. However, for me they remain, with a lack of real challenge, the two singles players to go with.
Well Goodall doesn't expect to be in the squad. He has entered a 10K futures in Greece the week this tie. Therefore I assume we will have Ward, Baker, Fleming and another doubles specialist and Evo will probably be on stand by.

James and Jamie obvious starters. Not particularly inspiring, and little form, but what are the alternatives?
Back-up?
To have a chance to win, and being the underdog, a back-up player might have to go 5 sets - on form both Dan and Ed would be very strong candidates for inclusion, but on fitness I just don't know. Ed is down for his first Challenger in ages this week.....I'd prefer him to give that a go instead......which leaves Dan as the choice. If he wants to play for GB again.
Is Jonny Marray likely to be fit 3 weeks down the road? Very possibly

think evo has a realistic chance of getting picked, he has proven he can compete when at his very best with top 100 guys before, and seems to be in good form
Just seen on twitter that Jonny Marray is fit again and will be playing with Fleming in Miami and through the clay court season. That being the case they are a shoe in for the doubles in this tie.
As ypu say, korriban, Ward & Baker are the obvious statrters. Indeed, in some ways uninspiring, but to me most certainly they would be the correct choice. At this stage, I'd be amazed if it was anyone else.
I think Fleming & J Murray is looking like the doubles choice, rather by default with Jamie, although we'll see if anyone else gets back on the scene. Inglot never seems to get a mention.
