RE: Davis Cup 2013 - E-A Zone Group I R2 - GB v Russia - 5-7 April

I simply don't believe this result. And I don't believe how well Dan just played. That was spectacular. In fact the performances all weekend have been exceptional, so welldone to all involved.

Mr Smith. Please just go with your instincts in a timely fashion next time! Was all the drama really necessary.

Mr Ward. To come from 2 sets to 1 down against Tursunov in the key tie, when you blew a 2 sets to love and 2-0 leadon Friday is a stellar mental effort. You deserve to go on from here and have a good spring and summer.

And Mr Evans. What do we need to do to persuade you to knuckle down and train properly, prepare for matches properly and travel abroad to bigger tournaments. Obviously you are guaranteed a Wimbledon WC now, whatever your ranking, but there's so much more in the tank - power, touch, serve, guile. That last set was as close to perfection as I've seen from any British player, including Andy. Brilliant!

Remarkable day! I think that should guarantee them MD WCs to every British event all year regardless of any other top 250 requirements.

We need to give these guys the opportunity for the points platform to play ATPs and challengers every week

Absolutely. If this doesn't happen you really would have to question what the hell the LTA are playing at.

Great effort from all involved and what a team selection by Leon. Most of us said that Dan on his day was capable and how he proved us right. Great win for James as well.

But that's exactly what we saw against Klizan and Lacko and he still went back to playing 10ks etc. - he only plays well on a Davis cup stage, he doesn't seem to be able to/want to do it for himself!! that's why he 's so frustrating but so brilliant to watch in these circumstances.

Only saw Dan's two matches this weekend but what an amazing effort in all 5 rubbers. Hope we get a decent WG play-off tie and Andy plays! Would be nice to avoid the teams with a good doubles team if Andy does play.

We definitely want to avoid a trip to Spain, anything else is very winnable with Andy in the team.

Wouldn't want Switzerland or Germany either! Or Poland actually.

Normally Steven has a list with our possible draws by now. :)

Absolutely brilliant. Got in to watch Dan seal the 1st set and no looking back from there. So happy for all the 'gang' that made it there too.

Think he's been "sent to Coventry"!

Of the 8 teams who lost in the world group first round I think the possibilities are

Germany or Switzerland - home
Brazil - by lots
Austria, Croatia, Belgium, Spain or Israel - away

However it is possible that Australia (home) could go above Belgium in the rankings when they are updated tomorrow so they would be a seeded team instead.

Well done Leon Smith on going with a late gut feeling that there was actually a more likely pair, however problematic that was or how much flak it invited. The WIN was what mattered.

But most of all, well done to James and Dan especially, though not forgetting Colin and Jonny, on going out and delivering that WIN. Superb !!

Stunned. Saw most of Fridays games; we really deserved something from those games felt a bit dejected really-thought the doubles boys would do well but boy they seemed on fire. Was away in London sat & sun so had to follow via twitter but stunning fortitude from wardy and brilliance by dan!

I just wonder f there were more tourneys in this country that offered decent points and wild cards how much better ranked these boys would be.

Some tough asks in the play off, home against Germany would be nice and hopefully Andy will not pull out. With a sniff at the world group though I think he will play- I do believe him when he says he'd like to win the Davis cup, to could be his chance unfolding!

Serious kudos to the guys and Leon smith though. Assuming Andy plays, who to leave out?
