RE: Week 15 - Greece F2 ($10,000) - Heraklion - Outdoor Carpet

Not to be. The Brit-bashing goes on. Straight sets to Jakupovic 6-4,6-4. Will be interesting to hear Fitzy's take on it.

Sounds like a tough match, close in both sets and then the deciding break near the end both times.
Unlucky Fitzy, hopefully you can use the experience next week.
Still, 2 points in the bag.

Fitzy just tweeted:-

Lost 4+4. Note to self avoid that court at all costs due to it being a tennis tournament not dancing on ice. Pathetic for a Futures.

I guess that's Heraklion out for next year. Should be in a Challenger by then

What a shame. It shows how well Fitzy has been doing recently that we are expecting great things from him now! Heading in the right direction. On to the next challenge!

all week everyone has been saying that the centre court here was the worst, i played my second round match on it, and although it was tough i could sort of move on there.
It was nothing compared to the court i was on today. The courts that they deem to be 'the best'.
it was like u run and hit your shot and u just keep sliding for about 5 yards after u hit it, so basically u had to either aim for the middle of the court and not move your feet or slide and hope that u hit the shot so had he would miss the next shot.
it was literally like dancing on ice. i needed grass court shoes if im honest and even with them people are struggling.

at least the whole court was the same surface.

so onto the next week now, ncl team is trying to get my to fly back for the weekend ot play for them, flights seem to be ridiculous so its a tough call and alot of hassle. Not sure if im going to be able to make it.
if only these tournaments were on hard!

Served well but got beaten buy a guy who was more comfortable on the surface, plus half of heraklion supporting him and getting in my face. i kind of like that atmos though.

Hey Fitzy, it's always tough to play in subpar courts. You would think that once you go pro you wouldn't have to deal with crappy courts but apparently not. In any case you at least know first hand what the courts are like and you can probably factor that in in the future when you do your scheduling. Although as someone upthread said we hope you will be playing challengers by then!
Best of luck next week and see if you can get a hold of some golf shoes!

Richard is flying home tomorrow - Saturday!

Shame, it looked such a super location with great facilities.

Interestingly they describe tennis facilities as -15 Tennis Courts (Quartz-sand courts)

... or maybe worried that he will get injured if he carries on playing on courts like that?

Quite. Sounds like you could do with playing in Doc Martens' boots, Fitzy

What are your schedule plans at the moment Fitzy ? Next week then the two GB futures I'm presuming. Any more plans for May ?

i have the british futures and then french league on the weekends in may, after that depends on wether i get a sponsor between now and then
Set a goal of top 100 and i believe i can reach it, i just need someone to help me achieve it and then they can get the satisfaction of having helped me get there.

ideally id like to get on a good run of form heading into the grass courts over england and maybe sneak a few WC's but thats a long shot and not something to rely on.

bloomers has had enough to went home, many of the players have had enough of it here and wont be coming back!!

Fitzy, have you thought about asking friends/family to give regular monthly donations of £15-20 to the cause? If you can get 50 people to sponsor you on a regular basis, you could be looking at a monthly extra income of £1000 per month right there. All you'd need is a website and a paypal account, which I can probably help you out with.

Not a complete solution but it would certainly help.
