Sadly neither Miles or James made it through to the MD, both losing in straight sets.

However, our old friend Fitzy is back in action and seeded (7) after his heroics in Israel a few weeks ago.  He is drawn against an unranked qualifier.

But this unranked qualifier, Evan Song, sounds like one of those under-ranked American Choir boys ...  oops  ..... College Boys. He put out the No1 seed Q4 in straight sets.

So it is not going to be a pushover by any means, but we have faith in Fitzy .... don't we !!!!

Good luck to Richard too.

Needless to say, SMC beat me to it with all this information while I was typing.

Fitzy will know Song after teaming up with him last year in Japan. Here are a couple of photos of them both (about half way down).

I still find this hard to believe. All the effort Steven puts into the top 25 tables and you don't use it.

I'm not a regular on this board so I didn't know that's where to look for the OOP. Believe me I do follow the top 25 tables, just wasn't aware of that particular aspect.  I'm fully aware of the excellent work Steven puts in.

So, um, thanks.

Yes, I think Fitzy mentioned before he's friends with Song. I'm sure he know his game well. Not worried at all, on his current form I'll start worrying in the semis against bloomers wink.

Thanks, SMC ... it's a lot nicer having someone else point out stuff like that than wondering whether I should say it myself! However, I should add that Sally/daisy is the queen of under-appreciated effort (those probably aren't the right words, but hopefully you know what I mean), having organised the DC groups from the AM site for years, so I won't be holding that oversight against her!

It's funny that it turns out that quite a few regular users were unaware that the round links to the OoP (except for some women's events outside Europe, for which sometimes there is no OoP to be found online anywhere) - in fact, everything in that shade of blue (whether in the column headings or the main body of the table) is a link. The reason they're not underlined (unless your browser is one of the ones that automatically underlines links) is that the tables look even more cluttered with underlining all over them.

Of course, it's probably the sheer amount of info on the tables that leads to even regular users being unaware of some of it. If I was designing a table for more casual fans, I'd probably do it very differently. However, given that the tables are primarily aimed at enthusiasts like the people who post here (and for my own use!), I'd rather leave it all there even if people only discover it gradually. I'm pretty sure that once people have realised something useful is available there (or had it pointed out to them), they don't forget about it in a hurry.
