Typical - the one result I copied off the forum without checking it for myself today (I saw Jack had beaten the 3rd seed and thought I'd better tweet it in a hurry in between meetings, no doubt the typo above was for a very similar reason too! wink) and it's wrong - someone has just pointed out that Jack won 1 & 4 ... which happily makes it an ever better result biggrin

Guilty as charged - Your Honour !!!  biggrin

Yes. It is true. @Expattennisfan and Bob in Spain are one and the same, although Bob in Spain is not currently IN Spain which would explain why I appeared to be up at 5am watching Jamie B's result come in from Talahassee when really it was only midnight here in Brazil.

not at all surprising, the one week Lewis gets a top 4 seeding and he faces an underranked junior!

No luck for Lewis in the doubles, either:

QF:  (WC) Minh-Quan Do & Quoc-Khanh (VIE/VIE) defeated (4) Lewis Burton & Jack Carpenter WR 2011 by 2 & 5 bleh

With 10/10 holds and 3 breaks, Jack follows up his R1 win against the no. 3 seed by taking out Vietnam's most successful Davis Cup player ever!

L16: Jack Carpenter WR 1072 beat (WC) Minh-Quan Do (VIE) UNR (CH 1002 in 2006) by 2 & 5

QF: Jack Carpenter WR 1072 v (7) Dane Propoggia (AUS) WR 650 or Kaza Vinayak Sharma (IND) WR 977

This is Jack's second Futures QF - the first was on clay in Koszalin last year when he beat Panfil in R2, then his career best win.

Bravo, Jack!   he plays Propoggia in the QF.

A win which will take him back into the top 1000 and very close to his CH of WR967.

Go Jack
