RE: Week 13 - Challenger ($100,000+H) - Le Gosier, Guadeloupe (hard)

Pierre-Hugues Herbert beat Elgin 4-6 7-6(3) 7-6(6)

Elgin had a poiint on his own serve for the match then lost 3 points in a row!

So it looks like Alex will get a LL place

Good news is that there is already a LL place and Ward will get it if Pierre-Hugues Herbert beats Mikhail Elgin.

Which PHH duly does - in two hours 51 minutes & 20 seconds (4-6 7-6(3) 7-6(6))!

Excellent - I've been cheering for Herbert even more since realising there were already 5 Q/LL slots in the draw

Both of their opponents reached R2 in Miami (Clément via qualifying, taking Raonic to a t/b in R2), though Lu retired from his R2 match against Mónaco.

Clement's form this season had been patchy but he did well in Miami beating Andreev, Capdeville and Sela. Let's hope that the conditions are a bit different here and that Evo can take advantage of his good preparation time for this event.

Can't see that Ward has a hope unless injury is a factor.

Yes, trouble is you have to beat the lower-ranked ones as well! Well done, Evo.
