I can't think of another current British player who would have toughed out a victory under such trying circumstances, constantly dropping serve and being subjected to outrageous overrules, including AM!

Nice! Comfortable win and into the quarters. Either the 'hungarian soderling' or a guy ranked inside the top 300. Do you know anything about michon steven?
Edit: Re Michon, a quick look at his profile reveals he's pretty good. Consistently winning at the futures level in the past year and also won the Israel F4 2 weeks ago although he was beaten by the player Fitz beat in the SF ; a couple of challenger wins as well. Also his ranking progression seems pretty impresive almost a 45 degree line.
He will definitely be a good test for Fitzy if he wins.

If he plays Michon, that'll be a match between the Israel F4 winner (Michon's 7th Futures title in the last 12 months) and the Israel F5 winner. Other stuff about Michon from a quick look at ITF - he's left-handed, beat Dan Cox in 3 sets in Morocco last October and took a set off Falla in Medellin on clay. So he would be a tough opponent, that's for sure.
On the plus side, the player Fitzy beat in last week's Final had also won quite a few Futures titles and Michon lost 1 & 4 in the QFs last week to Bossel, the player Fitzy then beat in the semis.

AF: "Took a comfortable win for once 62 64, with an opponent pretending his leg was broken every point he lost&pumped like rafa when he won 1."
Just two weeks ago I would have thought that an excellent win for Fitzy, straight sets, a seeded player, into the quarters etc. It still IS a very good win of course but now it just seems routine
Yes sorry Steven, just couldn't resist looking him up. In summary he seems like he lives up to his ranking so it will be a nice way to assess at which level Fitzy's really playing at (we know he's not playing at a 704 level or even at the 550 level). Hopefully the conditions will be good.
