Consolation of sorts for Robbo fans is that Czink has just trounced her first round opponent 6-1 6-2. Of course it can be dangerous to draw conclusions from scorelines, as players performances vary day to day, but it certainly looks like Czink could be finding some better form. Another way to look at it is Brianti would also have been a great draw for Laura as well and that 50 additional ranking points would have been gained if she could have got past Czink.

Agreed. Lets hope Laura gets a better chance next week to get some reward for her efforts/talent.

Hev's old rival Christina McHale seems to have done a reverse Hev ... and then some! 6-0 4-0 up against Cetkovska, she lost 0-6 7-5 6-1!

I  noticed that,  poor Christina.  She must have been injured I think.

Or I'd say more likely just a big turnaround in momentum as happens particularly in the women's game, unless you know of an issue.

There was a long break in the second set apparently, probably an injury time out. Don't know any more.

And Vika it is, bah.  Beat Krajicek  6 - 3  7 - 5.  Pity Heather couldn't have lined up a more feasible candidate than that, but just give it your best, girl !

R3 (L32) : (1) Victoria Azarenka (BLR) WR 1  vs  (WC) Heather Watson WR 129

There've been some interesting scorelines in the second round today:  Zheng beat Kerber (18) by a similar score to Hev's, Simona Halep Petrova (32) by 3 & 2, a fellow WC, Aleksandra Wozniak Niculescu (28) in three & Silvia Soler Kanepi (31) by 5 & 3, but the result which arguably eclipses Hev's is the defeat by the 18-year-old Garbiñe Muguruza (WR 208), also a WC, of Vera Zvonareva (9) by 4 & 3! disbelief

Hev has made a start against Safarova. Did it in style with first point being a double fault !!

Not too phased though and went on to hold to 30

1 - 0*
