Consolation of sorts for Robbo fans is that Czink has just trounced her first round opponent 6-1 6-2. Of course it can be dangerous to draw conclusions from scorelines, as players performances vary day to day, but it certainly looks like Czink could be finding some better form. Another way to look at it is Brianti would also have been a great draw for Laura as well and that 50 additional ranking points would have been gained if she could have got past Czink.
And Vika it is, bah. Beat Krajicek 6 - 3 7 - 5. Pity Heather couldn't have lined up a more feasible candidate than that, but just give it your best, girl !

There've been some interesting scorelines in the second round today: Zheng beat Kerber (18) by a similar score to Hev's, Simona Halep Petrova (32) by 3 & 2, a fellow WC, Aleksandra Wozniak Niculescu (28) in three & Silvia Soler Kanepi (31) by 5 & 3, but the result which arguably eclipses Hev's is the defeat by the 18-year-old Garbiñe Muguruza (WR 208), also a WC, of Vera Zvonareva (9) by 4 & 3!
