yes im still here next week and then i am coming home to play bolton british tour and then the week following that im off to greece for two weeks of futures on astro outside.
Managed to scrape some cash together, just sorting flights now, ive realised its alot better to buy singles than returns which are un changable as sometimes u will get stung with a return flight and u end up spending alot more money when u dont need to if u take an early exit.

thanks so much for the support!

Fitzy,

For an unfunded British player (like yourself) to earn enough in prize money (and LTA bonus's) to 100% fund your tennis and earn a basic wage, what sort of ranking on average would he be? Would you have to be inside the top 100, can you fund everything and earn a minimal living at 200......300?

Just interested in just how high you have get before the sport itself pays for itself even if your "take home" pay is still below average?

erm well the way i go about things id need the bare minimum in return. How i do things other players sort of laugh because im one of the only players at futures level that manages to come away from each week at a profit even if i lose first round! ha.

id say loosely that if i was 200-300 then id be getting some funding from the lta (you would hope) so maybe my training and some travel costs would be paid for. At that ranking your still playing some futures and trying to crack through challengers. I think you would be earning a very basic wage on top to be profit.
if you get inside 100 though you start to earn very decent money.

Brilliant !

First futures final and already with that looking like into the 500s in the rankings without any messing about even touching the 600s again.

All the best for the final !

What are Kellner's particulars? CH? Best win etc...

He is 25yo and ranked 301, which makes him the Hungarian no. 1. He hit a career high of 218 last August and has reached 6 other Futures Finals since the start of 2011, winning 4 of them. However, he lost 9 out of 10 matches after reaching that CH, only getting back on the winning trail 3 weeks ago when he reached the Turkey F8 Final.

His best result was reaching the Ostrava Challenger Final as a qualifier last April - he beat Dlouhy (top 20 doubles, former top 100 singles), Karol Beck, Ignatik & Guez (all top 200)  in the main draw before losing to Robert in the Final.
