RE: Week 12 - Challenger (€42,500) - Bath (indoor hard)

Jamie played great, I was particularly impressed at how he exploited Jouan's 2nd serve, great grit. Jouan also has a weapon of a forehand when he wants to use it.

What are 29 guaranteed points going to do for his ranking?

I was just checking that - he should be up to about WR 215 now - his November 2007 career high (211) is there for the taking! No wonder these wins this week look like they mean so much to him.

It should take him around the 215 ranking mark, almost certain to break his CH of 211 soon.

And the Davis cup team?

I'd rather Leon stuck with his existing team - he has to reward Evo for his heroics and there's no case for dropping Wardy

would be nice to see Jamie break that career high

Yeah i think he'll stick with the same team, maybe take Baker in as a reserve, although Baker is already playing in Tallahassee the week of DC

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays Evo and Baker though. That doesn't mean I think he'd be right to drop Wardy, but you can make a good case for or against any of those three at the moment and I certainly can't see him taking a third singles player and not including Colin and Ross!

Could he not do what Goodall did against Slovakia? He was there for hitting practice and if someone picked up an injury he could be drafted in or is that not possible?

Great win for Baker, kind of the forgotten player because of all his injuries and illnesses i feel but he looks to be hitting the ball very well at the moment

I was only managing to see bits of the match, but in the bits I did see, Jamie was playing as well as I've ever seen him play.

Sorry, forgotten by who ?    confuse

Until the injury that kept Jamie out the first two months of this year, he had played pretty continuously through 2010 and 2011, including Davis Cup each year, after that great futures period down under in late 2009 that brought him back into the top 350.

Form maybe hasn't always been that great and did drop just outside the top 400 at one point, but had really good second half to 2011, getting to later rounds of a few challengers, ending at WR 241.

Guess just not someone you really follow  smile

Anyway, great to see him so soon back into his 2011 form again ( or maybe better from what Steven was saying ) and another Challenger SF. Would be really good if he could make the final this time ( and even win it ! ) after two semis last year, and with it a new CH and possibly into the top 200.

SF:  (1) Dustin Brown (GER) & Jonny Marray lost to (3) Jamie Delgado & Ken Skupski by 6-7(4) 7-6(6) [7-10]

Disappointed for Jonny (wonder if Dustin's mind was already half on tomorrow's singles semi agin JB...), but delighted for Delgo & Skups. smile

*****

Final:  (3) Jamie Delgado & Ken Skupski WR 177 vs (4) Martin Fischer & Philipp Oswald (AUT/AUT) WR 247

That's going to be a tough match...

They've played them in 3 of the last 4 tournaments with Jamie and Ken winning all 3.
