so I'll probably give the tournament office a ring at 5 to find out the scores.

Brilliant.  Better for our nerves biggrin (And can get some work done)

yes - I do sometimes think about how much time I spend looking at numbers changing on a screen!

LOL the trick is to make sure your windows are set up to make it easy to have a quick peek at scores every 15-20 minutes and develop a 6th sense for when something important might be about to happen. wink

yes I do try to have something else useful I'm doing at the same time, but the screen is strangely compelling!

Results are in: (well at least one and latest)

Hev won 6-2 6-3
Laura would you believe hasn't finished and is in the third set, no idea of the score though, so will ring back a little later.

Probably a good thing that Laura isn't involved in doubles as well this week then!

Hope she can squeeze through today but either way the fact it's such a long match represents an improvement in her recent form.

Final result for Laura's match sadly lost: 7-5 6-7(8) 6-1.
Still a great effort though, and probably still her best performance of the year.

Shame Laura lost. Looks like she tried at the end from the score, not surprising given her lack of recent match time and a 3 setter yesterday afternoon.

Hopefully done her bit for Heather by wearing out Zhang!

Yes, hopefully Heather can finish the job, as it were. She played Zhang once before, in Hammond LA back in 2010, losing 5 & 2.

What a shame. i wonder how many match points she had in that second set.

Thanks Phil.

I think she won the second set, so not this time. You can never be 100% certain when someone is calling back the score over a mobile phone, but I'm pretty confident Laura lost the first and won the second, so actually probably saved MPs in the second.

Yeah, I just spotted my error and edited the post. #goingsenile biggrin

Not too bad at all.

Another Heather vs Laura match would have been interesting and of course guaranteed a semi finalist here.   But Heather has got another pretty decent looking win there and that's 6 sets of what it seems has been generally very competitive tennis that Laura has got under her belt.

Naomi and Hev won their doubles 3-6 6-0 10-7.

Hev is up first , but again not on the Bet 365 court, not sure the lady running the tournament will relish another phonecall from me on her mobile, but she might not have any choice, haha.

Hev and Naomi play their doubles SF later on which is on the Bet 365 court.
