Apparently there is a bad flu bug going around at this event, leading to a few retirements etc., Laura's best pal Genie Bouchard I believe pulled out due to it, so I'm hoping Laura hasn't fallen foul of the virus. May explain why Laura didn't play the doubles and why there hasn't been any tweeterings from her in the last few days. Of course this could be complete drivel, and I hope it is, but I just thought I would bring it to everybody's attention.

Mmmm. I speculated the reason no doubles was likely to be protecting previous injury niggles, but you may well be right about illness also flattening her.

Hopefully she'll surprise us and come out of the starting blocks fighting fit and back to winning ways ! Whatever, hopefully we'll at a least get a match of hers to follow which is fairly rare these days.
