Reyes-Varela is 24 with a CH of 584 from August last year. His only match against a Brit was a 6-4, 0-6, 6-7(5) defeat to Chris Eaton in a US futures in October 2010. Dan might have a tough match to qualify as Guccione and Duclos are both in his section.

Chvojka is 1 place down from his CH from February. He seems to be (in terms of results) a Jamie B type with a good mix of Futures SF/F/W and Challenger L16/QF and filling all of his counting scores without having a single really big points score to push the ranking up.

The top two seeds in qualifying here have now been moved up into the main draw as alternates, creating two sections that are much easier than they started out. So of course, Evo is in the section with the 3rd seed, the highest-ranked player still in the draw, and you can see above which section Alex is in!

Evo could do with a good week here. Lots and lots of points to defend over the the next few weeks.

Tough loss - Chvojka is a 25-year-old in the best form of his career, so it was always going to be difficult.

Less predictably, Evo is an early break down

Lost the first set 6-2.

Held serve at the start of the second to stop the rot.
