Rubbish draw for Fitzy against the reigning Orange Bowl champ, last year's RG boys' runner-up & former world junior no. 2 Thiem though if Fitzy can bring some of his form from last week, he's more than capable of another upset, I'm sure!

L32: George Morgan WR 707 v Qualifier - Tuesday
L32: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 704 v (5) Dominic Thiem (AUT) WR 614 - Monday

Yeah given the field out here its a bit of a stinker of a draw but if i chop him down tomorrow then it should open up. Got to beat the good players at some point!
Nice weather here. Courts are good as well see how it goes.

Yes, must be particularly annoying to get a R1 draw like that when you've got the money together for a trip like this, but that's tennis for you ...

Exactly the right attitude though - you've got to beat players like that at some stage and the draw starts looking a lot kinder if you can take him out.

Of course, given that you have been playing well above your ranking recently and you were next in line to be seeded yourself, Thiem must be wishing he'd got an easier R1 draw too!

Good luck!

Just noticed that one on bet365 as it was finishing. Ashley and Fitzy are on non-livescored courts.

Fitzy, any reason why you decided to go overseas when there are Futures happening still in UK?

In case you're wondering, not a mistake - they really did lose by exactly the same scoreline. Pastor plays Benneteau to see who comes up against Fitzy in R2.

L32: Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 704 beat (5) Dominic Thiem (AUT) WR 614 by 6-1 5-7 6-2 biggrin
L32: George Morgan WR 707 v (Q) Sebastian Lavie (NZL) WR 1252

Lavie (who is at the Mouratoglou academy) lists his coaches on ITF as "Mr Kerei, Sean Paul and my mate" LOL (shades of Muzz?!)

busy day indeed but a good one all around! ive chosen to go abroad because i wanted to get back to back tournaments going where i felt i could go deep.
I should have made the semi's in tipton, you need to start making semi's and finals of futures to make any sort of inroads in futures.
In 10k's you have to work harder for your points, especially when your one out of being seeded!

Ive got a link at the academy ive started to train at 'lordbrownof' as the guy who runs dukes meadows help set up Israel tennis federation, so ive managed to wangle free acomodation at there version of the NTC, obviously not costing millions of pounds, and it has a lively atmosphere unlike the ntc as well as players actually train there! ha

If im honest im still having to look at other areas outside tennis as when i come back from this trip i wont have my 'home' to go to as its being sold and there are things like car insurance and things like that at the end of this month i just dont have anywhere near the money to pay for. So things have to change financially, i hope in time but it might not be the case.

What ever the case im out here giving everything and going from there and dealing with all the rubbish i have to deal with off the court as and when it hits me.
Hoping for a good 3 weeks.

Day off tomorrow
