Strange to see an African clay court Challenger have by far the strongest of the three Challenger qualifying draws that have come out so far. So of course, this is where a Brit pops up! Good news though - not seeing him on the entry loists for Spain or Portugal this week, I was a bit worried that whatever forced Morgan to retire from his last match might have kept him out for a bit.

QR1:  James McGee (IRL) WR 366 lost to Morgan Phillips WR 460 by 6-4 4-6 2-6 smile

Andrea Arnaboldi (q8) or Nikoloz Basilashvili (RUS) in QR2.

Good win for Morgan

Believe it or not, there were 30 break points in the course of the match (!) - Morgan took 6/17 and saved 9/13.

QR2: Morgan Phillips WR 460 v (q8) Andrea Arnaboldi (ITA) WR 284 (CH 206 in 2009)

They have met once before, in the Parma Fut. Final in 2009, Arnaboldi winning 7-6(7) 6-3.

QR2: Morgan Phillips WR 460 lost to (q8) Andrea Arnaboldi (ITA) WR 284 (CH 206 in 2009) by 2 & 2

Worse scoreline than 3 years ago, unfortunately, but still, the QR1 win was a good one - a pity it wasn't worth any ranking points.
