Checa-Calvo was the top qualifying seed.  He is a 26 yo who was ranked WR 250 back in 2009, but his results over the last year or so seem in line with his current ranking  -  i.e.  not missing for any noticeably long period.

He lost  6 - 2  6 - 2  to Morgan Phillips in Spain F3 L16 a couple of weeks ago and reached the QF in Spain F4 last week after beating the no 5 seed in R1.

More importantly, he beat Kyle in the final qualifier two weeks ago in Murcia (Spain F3), 6-2 0-6 6-4.

A close enough result to suggest that revenge is a definite possibility.

Yes, and hopefully Kyle RTing my tweet yesterday to that effect suggests he's well up for a bit of revenge (not that I was ever in any doubt that he would be!)

Hmmm.  RTing ???  I have just spent the last 20 mins trying to work out what that meant.  Got there in the end !!

I really must get my head around this "twitter" thing and maybe even get myself an account.  Oh, the joys of modern technology.

Mina beat the no. 3 seed today and beat Jack in straight sets at the end of 2010. Fortunately, as you'll know if you follow both of them on Twitter, Jack's new 'coach' Oli Golding seems to be on the case ...

Edit: Just realised Mina is a former junior world no. 2, having reached the boys' Final at Roland Garros in 2009 and won the Orange Bowl the same year. He got a WC into senior RG the following year, losing 6-2 6-2 6-2 to Rafa in R1. Mina also bears a passing resemblance to Gael Monfils.

But it's gone off the screen now. Jack was leading last time I looked. Was there a retirement perhaps?

Mmmmm I'm not sure. That was the score I think before it disappeared on 365. Let me know if you see any change.
