I don't get the logic: James is *2-5 & all of a sudden he loses the first set by 6-2!
Err, he was serving at 5 - 2 down, shown in the generally accepted format folk use on here, and then loses the set 6 - 2
Not by me, it isn't & I think quite a few others on here think similarly: posters generally give a Brit player's score first & if he/she loses a set, it follows that the losing number of games should therefore be given first, so that first set for Dino should have been 2-6, since he lost it by two games to six!
Sorry, are you on the drink tonight, seriously ?
You presumably understood * 2 - 5, since in the format we seem agreed is normal in a set, and "Lost the first set 6 - 2" is absolutely clear, and seemingly clearly understood by yourself.
I actually prefer lost 6 -2 rather than lost 2 - 6 ( it's clear anyway either way, the clue being "lost" ). What it is anyway is not uncommon, I see both on here irrespective of the scoring during the set.
To me, there was no real issue whatever here ! It was all clear.
No, I'm not & I give up, since I'm clearly bashing my head against the proverbial brick wall, but I'm telling you now, I shall NOT abandon my practice of reporting losing set/match scores for Brit players with the lower number of games first, so Dino earlier lost by 2-6 6-7(5).
Yes, that is a really very disappointing loss to a player Ed Corrie beat a few weeks ago, albeit on clay.
Not happening for James at the moment, and today if anything seems to go more in the wrong direction.
I think we all expected the transition from playing mostly challengers to mostly playing on the main tour to be far from easy but recent results have been hugely disappointing. It's not so much losing today but he was broken 5 times in two sets and it seems to be becoming a patern. In his last three matches he has had spells where he lost 2 or 3 service games in a row.
James is still looking for his first win since AO Q and that was probably his worse loss, against a lower-ranked player he had beaten before. Still, he had an even worse start to last year (apart from DC v Tunisia) and didn't get going until the Nottingham Challenger at the start of the grass court season. Of course, that meant the start of 2012 was his big chance to push on towards the top 100 ... still time though if he can sort himself out.
