I don't get the logic: James is *2-5 & all of a sudden he loses the first set by 6-2!
Err, he was serving at 5 - 2 down, shown in the generally accepted format folk use on here, and then loses the set 6 - 2
Not by me, it isn't & I think quite a few others on here think similarly: posters generally give a Brit player's score first & if he/she loses a set, it follows that the losing number of games should therefore be given first, so that first set for Dino should have been 2-6, since he lost it by two games to six!
In my experience, the score tends to get turned around as RJA did when a set finishes, especially if it's then being put into a sentence like that. As long as it's obvious (and to me, in this case, it was completely obvious what RJA meant), I don't see the problem.
Anyway, James went *4-1 up in the 2nd but has just DFd one of the breaks away.

Yes, that is what I have always done. Brit players score always first unless it is in a sentence that states otherwise. I think lost 6-2 sounds correct where as lost 2-6 sounds a little strange.

Sorry, are you on the drink tonight, seriously ?
You presumably understood * 2 - 5, since in the format we seem agreed is normal in a set, and "Lost the first set 6 - 2" is absolutely clear, and seemingly clearly understood by yourself.
I actually prefer lost 6 -2 rather than lost 2 - 6 ( it's clear anyway either way, the clue being "lost" ). What it is anyway is not uncommon, I see both on here irrespective of the scoring during the set.
To me, there was no real issue whatever here ! It was all clear.
