Rough to beat two top 300 players and get no points - if he'd done that in any of the other four Challengers this week (where the top seeds in qualifying were all outside the top 290), doing that would have meant QFs in the main draw at least!

Once again, he was killing his opponent's 2nd serve - 78% of 2nd return points won today - and we thought 64% yesterday was pretty good.

Second serve points certainly look to be the key stat, along with BPs, with Evo saving 8 out of 8 and coverting 3 out of 6 (having missed the first 3).

Impressively he was not broken once in his three qualifying matches. 31 service games, 31 holds. For a player who doesn't have a particularly big serve that is good going.

Reposting this from yesterday but first round opponent will be one of

(4) Florent Serra WR 143
Laurynas Grigelis WR 205
(WC) Pierre-Hugues Herbert WR 355
(WC) Josselin Ouanna WR 463 (has of course been top 100)

There are two doubles matches today, including Eaton / Inglot v Skupski / Delgado. The rest of the first round will probably be tomorrow and Wednesday.

Evo got arguably the best first round draw available:

L32: (Q) Daniel Evans WR 275 v (WC) Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) WR 359
