I wonder if the LTA called in a favour with the Spanish authorities to get a Kyle a wild card into the main draw after he missed the qualifying draw by one spot.

What could the LTA possibly have done to curry favour with the Spanish federation to earn that kind of favour?
Perhaps an offer to reciprocate at some point in the future. Obviously we don't even know if the LTA were involved so it is only speculation.

That's a great way to get his first ranking point - beating a top 500 player who has been close to 200 in the past. He'll be the youngest Brit with an ATP singles ranking on 19 March.

Yes, great to see Kyle getting that first ranking point, and there is quite a lot of evidence that he is a really good prospect.
Would say though that apart from Andy ( which is admittedly a rather high bar set ! ) who 7 weeks after his 17th birthday was ranked just outisde the top 500, was a futures winner and had actually just been out injured for 6 months, we also have much more recently...
Liam Broady ( just over a year older than Kyle ), who won his first ranking point still aged 15 against WR 869, and had by virtually exactly the same stage 12 ranking wins worth 18 points in all, had beaten 3 top 500 players and was WR 798. Now, a year later, he is WR 780.
It is going to be interesting to watch how Kyle and indeed Liam develop from here, and of course be great if one or indeed both really make it.
