Week 7 Futures - Turkey F6 ($10K) - Antalya-Belconti - hard

The seemingly random appearance and disappearance of Brits in Antalya continues ...

QR1: (q2) Edward Corrie WR 701 v Maxim Lunkin (RUS) WR 1237
QR1: Robert Carter UNR v (q13) Robert Rumler (CZE) WR 895

Dan Smethurst should be seeded in the main draw. Liam was 4th Alt just above the top seed in qualifying so should have got in but I'm not sure what has happened to Oli, who was definitely still in Turkey yesterday but does not seem to have ever been on the entry list for this event.

Well done, Ed  smile

But is he aware unfortunately that the stevegtennis site no longer keeps a table of the players on the circuit who have played most matches in the year ?  I remember Alex Ward up there before and I'm sure Ed's outdoing his previous efforts.

Hey thanks Akhenaten,  so yes he's well clear, and obviously in number of wins as well.   He's in danger though of soon generally not having to play qualifying, but at least he got some biggees in   wink

5 British men in a top 100.  Roger the Dodger will be positively slavering  biggrin

Poor old Ed. He couldn't find any 128 player qualifying draws in the U.S. so has had to cross the pond to find a mere 64 player draw.

The good news is that he's about to serve for the first set, leading *5-1.

Quite impressive to have won 3 more matches than the next busiest player has even played but ridiculous that he only has 4 points to show for it!

FQR: (q2) Edward Corrie WR 701 beat (q11) Yannick Vandenbulcke (BEL) WR 886 by 1 & 4

Switching to today's rankings, the three Brits are all playing opponents who, like Ed, are at or within a couple of places of their career highs:

L32: (Q) Edward Corrie WR 681 v Marc Rath (AUT) WR 460
L32: Liam Broady WR 692 v (5) Gleb Sakharov (FRA) WR 384
L32: (7) Dan Smethurst WR 457 v Arthur de Greef (BEL) WR 538

Dan gave Arthur a fair bit of de Greef on his home soil the one previous time they met, beating him 7-6(4) 6-0 in Eupen Futures QFs in 2009.

Obviously been nip & tuck in the first set, but the bet365 LS has been stuck on *5-4 to Dan for a while now... confuse

And now it's disappeared altogether!  Hope that means Dan won.
