It was a 50/50 match given Paszek's poor form, but very pleasing to see that Anne battled that one out. 100 points sees her comfortably at the top of the GB ranking points year to date list.
Pity, but if as it seems Radwanska was playing well, no disgrace at all to go down 6 - 1 6 -2
And. ( Phil ) not even necessarily any "bit of a shocker" to be down 6 - 1 5 - 0. I admit I didn't see any of the match, and of course it's not a good scoreline at all. But Steven's account suggests she wasn't playing too badly. Some of us have actually discussed quite a bit lately ( well more Ratty and me and folk maybe left us to it ), particularly re the Aussie Open, about how when the general momentum is just with the better woman player ( and without dominant serves to give a few games ) those sort of scorelines do regularly happen, and we were surmising that the very top players have a kind of art of just getting game after game even when the opponent is often getting 2 or 3 points a game, i.e. a very good match focus. First set here was 6 -1 ( 29 pts to 13 ) which OK is not great ( I've seen closer on points for a similar score ), bit if Radwanska was playing anywhere near her best with good contolled tennis, always a quite likely games and points scoreline without a shoicker from a WR 89 player Second set was 6 -2 ( 33 - 20 )
Scoreline waffle over . Hope that shoulder issue not too bad.
