From WR 308 at the start of the year, that win puts her up to 236 ranking points ( well on Monday week anyway ), which is currently equivalent to WR 239. And her CH ( from April 2011 ) is WR 239 Not that much to defend either in the next 4 or 5 months.
Good to see she seems fit and healthy so far this year. She seemed to go through a period of fairly persistent injury concerns, think it was mainly leg issues.
I don't know if anyone caught Jo's post match interview with Ken. For those that didn't, the big question we've all been wanting to ask was raised again. Jo seemed genuinely excited by the prospect of representing GB in the near future. When that will happen is still up in the air, but still likely to happen sometime this year. When Ken asked about the prospect of getting a Wimby WC, Jo basically sidestepped that question by saying she hoped she would make it through her ranking. Not sure whether she was talking about QDWC or MDWC, but it would be a very long shot to expect her to get a direct entry into the MD via the required ranking. She is travelling currently with LTA coach Chris Lewis and back at the NTC Louis Cayer has been helping her. Jo has been very impressive this week, with her forehand getting the most rave reviews. However she seems to be developing a more all court game, with slices, dropshots and good quality net play all evident as well. I would to be surprised if Jo doesn't become a top 100 player in time assuming she can avoid the niggly injuries which have plagued her career to date. Her attitude is spot on, her talent undoubted and she seems to have that self confidence which you need to really make an impact at the elite level.
