I've always wondered about that. Seems a bit bizarre that they don't get the first round points even if they don't pull out.
Still Anne pulled out of the dubs at Nottingham because of the same reason, qualies starting at her next singles event.

I presume she will now be making a mad dash to Doha to prepare herself for qualies starting on Saturday.

Mirza on her day is a quality player, but I thought Anne would win this one given how well she played on Tuesday I had presumed.

It will be interesting to see if Laura appears in the qualie draw for Doha given the retirement the other day. Certainly I assume Hev will be there and Anne of course.

Venus pulled out of Qatar which let Laura into the qualies but whether she will play remains to be seen. Anne and Heather are also in the qualies.

Where does it say heather is on qualies list? The list I saw originally had Anne and Laura on it. Heather was down in the main draw of Memphis according to their website. Though imagine Qatar is easier to get to from Thailand than trekking to Memphis

A reliable source on Tennis Forum 'Meelis' stated that Heather was on the list. (This was over a week ago)

My understanding is that Hev originally wasn't going to play either Doha or Dubai, and was going to play Memphis, hence why she wasn't on the original list which comes out 6 weeks before the start of the event. The qualie list however comes out later, hence why she is on that list which isn't on the website.
