Pity for Heather and Laura. The tournament site may say back problem for Laura, and that may be the main issue today, but I don't like the fact that the LTA twiiter so immediately said wrist. There evidently does appear to be some sort of wrist issue, and I don't like wrist issues ( not saying back is always that great either ! )
Great win for Anne. Cibulkova was playing Fed Cup at home in Slovakia, playing singles on both Saturday and Sunday so like the Brits will also have come in with less than ideal prep, again long flight and having arrived very probably just yesterday. Anne still came out winner though, so great credit to her and a CH win ( Cibulkova is WR 16 ).
Pattaya I would have thought was ripe for a few upsets, Quite A lot of the players presumably have been playing Fed Cup in far distant parts until Saturday and Sunday for the World Group, and you could add in the conditions.
Could be more to come this week from Anne

It must take some getting used to playing in 91 degree heat given how cold it was in Israel. Looks like Heather is holding her own after the early break though.

I know. I think they are amazing. Just sitting watching in that heat would probably be too much for most of us
