I certainly think there is a case for Dan ceasing to play in Futures events, especially now the Sheffield win has ended his title drought. Over the last 6 months he has produced some very good results against player ranked 100-200 while continuing to throw in some shockers against low ranked players. So I would like to see him mainly in challengers (qualies if need be) and the odd ATP qualies.
Its a big step and i think a balance is needed, its a lottery with Challenger MD's or ATP qualies because he could potentially draw someone ranked 100-150 first or second round and unless he does play his best tennis, hes not going to be winning that many matches. Obviously he's had a very good win here but lets not get too excited just yet.
At least at futures he keeps his ranking ticking over as he should always be seeded and should make semi's week in week out

I agree that it is a bit of a risk and I am not getting carried away with one good win. Why I think it is worth it is that Dan continues to be very patchy at futures level and is just as likely to lose in the first round of such events as he is to have a good week.
Stephane Bohli in the final qualifying round. He's been ranked higher than his current place outside the top 200 but never seems to play a full year. Both have won through pretty comfortably I'd say. Kind of player who could thrash Dan and I wouldn't be suprised but also no reason for Dan to fear him at all
