Just got back after a brief visit to Silksworth.
Fran was leading by a set and 3-1 having comeback from a 0-3 in the first. Fran is without doubt a much better player this year, not afraid to go for her shots and as a result hitting alot more winners. Her opponent staged a mini rally at 1-5 down before Fran comfortably served out at 5-3. Clearly Fran will find it tough aginst Gronert in the next round, but with nothing to lose don't be surprised if she makes it closer than you might expect.

Also I managed to catch up with the guy who feeds the scores through for the smaller events. He actually travels the whole of Europe to do what he does.

Thanks for the report, Phil. I noticed Fran was favourite to win today with the bookies before the match, despite playing an opponent ranked over 250 places above her and there seems little doubt she is playing well above her ranking at the moment
