In the last 18 days Ed Corrie has played 15 singles matches (winning 13) and thus far has just 1 ranking point to show for it. He has also played 6 doubles matches (winning 4), has had only had one day off in that time and has now played 11 days in a row. Lets hope that this week he starts to get more reward for his efforts.

Ed's clearly a glutton for punishment disbelief :

R1:  Matt Bocko (USA) & Matt Short WR 2515 vs Andrea Collarini & Petru-Alexandru Luncanu (USA/ROU) WR 1409 bleh

R1:  Carlos Boluda & Libor Salaba ((ESP/CZE) WR 2678 vs (2) Sekou Bangoura (USA) & Ed Corrie WR 999

The strain of so many matches in the last couple of weeks must be taking its toll on Ed. cry

He is 2nd Alt at the moment so as long as there are no SEs he will sneak in as a DA

L32:  Morgan Phillips WR 497 defeated (q) Michael Shabaz (USA) WR 909 by 1 & 3

L32:  (Q) Ed Corrie WR 720 defeated (WC) Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) WR 787 by 3 & 4

L32: (Q) Matt Short WR 801 lost to (LL) Haydn Lewis (BAR) WR 821 (CH 583 in 2008) by 3 & 5

****

L16:  (1) Benjamin Balleret (MON) WR 320 vs Morgan Phillips WR 497

L16:  (Q) Ed Corrie WR 720 vs Jason Kubler (AUS) WR 530

Kubler, not long out of the junior ranks, took out the Swedish eighth seed, Christian Lindell (WR 422), in straight sets in the first round, so is probably a force to be reckoned with.  Balleret is one of only three seeds left in the draw, the others being Matwé Middelkoop (NED/3) & Pedro Sousa (POR/4).

Edited in Matt Short's result

Kubler's one of the trailblazers for the 1993s. He was junior no.1 2 years ago, had problems with injury, but has made a mark on the pro circuit in the last few months, with back to back titles, and started off 2012 with a final. One for Oli and George to follow.

It will be interesting to see whether Morgan can take out the top seed in R2 for the second week in a row ... and whether Ed can follow up a win over a former world junior no. 2 who won a junior slam (RG) with a win against a former world junior no. 1 who didn't!

Whoops!  I remember writing out Lewis' name when I updated my draw sheet, but not noticing whom he beat! ashamed  Can't think how I missed it!
