But which of the finalists won the all important Acoustic Cup for the highest, longest and loudest scream?

Having got that first one, I wonder how many more Slams Vika, also he new WR 1, is going to win.  I think quite a few.

I hope so. She is a supremely blessed player with all the shots and wonderful movement, and a joy to watch. Who cares about the screeching ...

I do, for one. furious  I couldn't bear to watch the whole of the final this morning because of the assault on my ear drums.  Such caterwauling is intolerable & made all the worse by the fact that both players are quite unrepentant about their sound-barrier-shattering banshee screeching!  Shriekarenka vs Shriekapova:  the women's final from hell! evileye

Pardon the cod psychology, but the shrieking is not intrinsically irritating. You (and many many others) allow yourself to find it irritating.

You could probably decide NOT to find it irritating. I have done so, and it means that I can enjoy watching the magnificent Victoria in action.

(Yes, of course I'm in love with her, why not?)

So, love's deaf as well as blind, is it? confuse  Gawd help you men... disbelief  Would your cod psychology explain why several of my friends now refuse to sleep in the same room as their respective husbands because they can't stand their snoring?  There's no way I could decide not to find that kind of racket irritating any more than I can tolerate people sitting sniffing next to me in the train on the way to or from work because they're too lazy to blow their bloody noses!

Apologies, it's becoming too weird. I am not female! (as if any woman would be so argumentative with anyone apart from her husband ...)

I don't find the screeching irritating, I actually don't even notice it most of the time :L

Well I used to watch women's tennis nearly as much as mens'. I truly believe that the reason I don't these days is because of the screeching. Maybe Stircrazy and I have more sensitive ears than you men! Or just perhaps, you are all more interested in the visual than the auditory effect? Anyway, I usually watch at least the ladies' final, but I didn't watch any of it because I didn't even have a non-screecher (or non-hooter) to support
