Great to see he's still in good form. If he's playing off his face then he must be in Grand Slam qualifying form because that is what he managed a few years back. No mean feat beating a top 200 player for a Futures title either.
Wow what a comeback from josh! I followed a set and a half and he was losing his serve to love and hardly getting a point on Knittels serve! Stopped looking at 6-2 *4-3 down, brill news to come back to! Interesting to see he will come back to play Wirral when there are two more carpet 15k's in Germany he could stay for, espec after success on the carpet this week
It really is encouraging that he has brought such form into the new year after his very good second half of last year.
That's 18 points won in one week, when he had 18 points in total to defend in the first 4 months of 2012, indeed just 20 points in the first 6 months.
This title should just about take him provisionally into the 250s in the rankings from WR 284 ( and with anything gained from Germany F2 to be added before the next rankings list post the Aussie Open ). Indeed, on current rankings even taking off the points he has to defend, he only needs about another 28 ranking points by June to be in the top 250 then ( with presumably Wimbledon WC main draw entry ), so it would be hugely disappointing if he didn't manage that and more.
I guess that he will be out to collect as many futures points as he can early in the year. But then would be good to see Josh back in challengers and see what he can achieve.
