RE: Week 2 Futures - GB F1 ($15,000) - Glasgow - Hard

Looks like there was a retirement in Gabb v Reix - Richard lost the 1st set 4-6 after being *3-1 up then went 1-2* down in the 2nd set, at which point the scoring on bet365 stopped. I imagine that means Richard was the one who retired but not certain.

The above results mean that the only QF with any Brit interest is in the bottom quarter of the draw:

QF:  (7) Dan Evans WR 345 vs Jan Minar (CZE) WR 413

Minar's not to be underestimated....

Chris & Dom finally get a (successful) match under their belts for the first time for a long time smile :

QF:  (4) James Cluskey & Alexandre Sidorenko (IRL/FRA) WR 788 lost to Lewis Burton & Dan Evans WR 1174 by 5-7 6-7(4) biggrin

QF:  Germain Gigounon & Yannik Reuter (BEL/BEL) WR 1455 lost to (2) Chris Eaton & Dominic Inglot WR 759 by 3 & 2 smile

*****

Two all-Brit SFs!   We can't lose! biggrin  I think George & Alex have more than justified their WC.

(1)  David Rice & Sean Thornley WR 379 vs Lewis Burton & Dan Evans WR 1174

(WC) George Morgan & Alex Ward WR 1765 vs (2) Chris Eaton & Dominic Inglot WR 759

I can only presume that Lewis and Dan have won a string of tournaments that I was unaware of wink

On a more serious note it very disappointing to only have 1 Brit in the QFs of a home Futures. This only happened twice last year (Sheffield and Bournmouth)

Agreed although usual suspects like Goodall, Cox, Milton, Bloomfield all playing elsewhere

Disappointing but Minar is a far better player than his current ranking suggests.

Indeed he is - but we'd like to think Evo is too!

Less inclined to head down at 10am on Saturday to watch the final now that British interest has ended. Fingers crossed we have a GB rep in the womens final

(1)  David Rice & Sean Thornley WR 379 defeated Lewis Burton & Dan Evans WR 1174 by 1 & 0!

(WC) George Morgan & Alex Ward WR 1765 lost to (2) Chris Eaton & Dominic Inglot WR 759 by 5-7 7-6(5) [3 -10]

A spirited fight by George & Alex!    Really pleased to see Chris & Dom in the final, which should be an interesting one, to say the least...

Just been trying to find that result.  I feel a bit sorry for David & Sean, but I'm absolutely delighted for Chris & Dom.
