QR1: James Ward WR 162 v (wc) Mousa Zayed (QAT) UNR

If James can get past the 17-year-old Qatari, he could face 5th seed Martin Klizan in QR2. Klizan is the Slovakian no. 3 and played two singles rubbers in each of Slovakia's DC ties last year so is more than likely to be one of Wardy's opponents in the February DC tie.

Fleming/Hutch top seeds here but have Kas/Kohlschreiber in R1. Can't be bothered to look it up but did they not lose to them at Wimbledon?

Nah that was Kas/Peya (and I didn't have to look that up ) but Kas/Kohlschreiber have had some success together in the past winning a couple of titles so a tough first round draw.

Bit of a surprise to see Fletch top seeds here.

Missed chances in the tie break were followed by a missed break point in the first game of the second set which James went on to lose 6-3.

Not the start to the year that we were hoping for.
