Come to think of it, it probably was Naomi Broady, I think she said she was practising in Auckland even though she didn't quite get into qualifying.

Anyway, Bally took Jones to deuce but the Kiw-Ozzy held then there was a long break while Sacha had treatment on her wrist, then Bally held for 5-3*

Bally playing a lot better towards the end of the 3rd set, though Jones is clearly hurt too.

Interview: Says conditions are tough, Jones played well, 'sorry to take out the local girl' LOL, knows she has to step it up for the next match.

Elena has played Flavia twice before, at Wimbledon 2000 when Elena lost in 3 and in 2011 when Elena again lost in 3.

Naomi confirms it wasn't just a dead ringer for her, it actually was her. smile She was only 2 out of qualifying in the end (ouch!) & is off to Hobart, where it's probably going to be just as touch and go whether she gets in, I imagine.
