Oli is now just one win away from finishing 2011 as GB's top teenager in the ATP rankings - Lewis currently leads on 30 points but Oli has joined Liam on 28 today (moving clear of Marzi on 27) and there are 4 extra points on offer for a QF win ...

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I assume (*) Oli will play his doubles partner in the quarters:
QF: (5) Gleb Sakharov (FRA) WR 428 vs Oliver Golding WR 688
The match between him & the Italian, Antonio Comporto (WR 553), has been played, but the result is not yet available.
Confirmed: Sakharov beat Comporto by 3 & 2.
Looking at the other results, I see that "MarDjo"(*) (WR 1045), who had to qualify again, took out Sinicropi, the sixth seed (WR 462), in three sets, so maybe his relative success in last week's tournament wasn't as jammy as I thought!
(*) Marko is 20. The youngest of the Djokovic brood is 16 & called Djordje (which I presume is pronounced something like "Georgie"), so maybe he should be nicknamed "DjoDjo"!
SF (I think - Fabbiano was leading MarDjo by something like 3-0 in the third set when I last checked. Now the match has disappeared off the screen!): Oliver Golding WR 688 vs (2) Thomas Fabbiano (ITA) WR 331
As someone who half way through the year was asking a few questions about Oli I am pleased to see how much better his senior results have been second half, quite apart from his US Open boys win.
Good to see that he noted my concerns and bucked his ideas up
