Fed Cup 2012

Fed Cup tweet of the week for sure: (the second one, obviously!)

LTA twitter: "A few wise words from Captain @judmoo at this afternoon's praccy http://yfrog.com/mgzx6nj"

Hev's instant retort: "more like a bollocking... ;)"

biggrin

Ah, does make the option of playing the number 2 singles player in doubles more reasonable.

Given there are no obvious doubles picks I imagine the temptation initially will be to play the two non singles players, but it is an option to have someone play twice later in the week.

Anyway, more definitive selection stuff from me  wink

Well, let's face it, when it comes to tennis players rapping, the bar isn't exactly high...

Good luck to the girls tomorrow. I'm getting desperate to see the girls in a play-off match

Is it purely based on win/loss for the match, or do individual rubbers count regards tie-break proceedures. For example if a team wins both the singles, do they still play the doubles?

I think if two teams top the group, their H2H is the deciding issue. However if three top the group then rubbers won count, and then if you can't split them after that, sets won/lost.

Interesting how the momentum has shifted back and forth in this match with both girls winning games in groups. Momentum is all with Anne right now though at *4-3

Annie K 6-3 6-4, I had put that down as a semi banker, so relieved that Anne retrieved the situation well in the second set.
I think MLDB will be tougher, but hopefully the doubles will end up being a dead rubber for this tie.

One imagines that it is probably same again vs Netherlands.

My only concern would be how well Anne has played, being aware of a courtside supporter tweet that Koehler was looking surprisingly poor.

If she has played reasonably well and given how well the girls' doubles went, it makes life easier. Also, as has been poiinted out with such as Krajicek, it's potentially quite useful players just having to play one match a day.
