Yeah, well done, Fitzy. Beating Josh and Evo in consecutive encounters is no mean feat and caps a brilliant year for you.

Thanks for coming on here and giving us your first-hand knowledge. It's much appreciated.

What's your aim for next year? Top 500? More Challenger qualies?

Congratulations on an excellent 2011.

no a problem gary, its not alot of effort for me to give insight into areas where people are interested in but dont really ever hear/ see.
My aim for next year is to break top 500 yes, but my immediate goal for xmas break is to secure as much / any sponsorship funds that i can, as next year is a big year.
I scraped by this year financially, at times i have no idea how. Ive tailored my own way of getting things done, and all the guys on the tour are becoming accustom to my way of things and they love mocking me for it.
i.e couch surfing, cooking my own food and in mass for travel to name a few.

im trying to explore every avenue possible, managed to secure clothes sponsorship / product sponsorship with www.equmen.com which are a skins type brand which will be kicking off big time in 2012, products are really good. They will be sourcing all my tennis clothes from wilson, placing their logo on the tops and then firing them over to me along with their products.
So financial sponsorship is my main goal. All ive ever wanted was a full year of travel and tournaments proper training, nutrition....the whole deal and see where i am at the end of it.
But i unfortunately cant give myself that, so i need to look for help. See what happens.

I really think those people out there who think that British tennis is all about Andy Murray trying to win a Grand Slam ( laudable though that is) should read this message board and follow you on Twitter and find out what life is really like for the vast majority of our players.

I hope you get the sponsorship you're looking for. Your progress this year has been phenomenal, despite funds being tight. It would be amazing to see just how much more you  might achieve with the right funding in place.

Above all, please keep posting on here and Twittering. In the meantime, I look forward to hearing news of your first tournament in 2012, which will be where and when? The very best of luck in everything you do next year, especially associated with the tennis, and here's to your further progression up the rankings.

Fitz, have you put together a corporate sponsorship pack, detailing what corporates would get out of sponsoring you? Many probably don't know how it would enhance their brand and profile.

thanks, yes i have put together a package recently and have been firing it out but no such luck, i need to know someone or get details of people high up, which you cant really find on google!
My tournaments will start with bilesley british tour which is on my door step in birmingham, on around the 4th then i will play the 3 british futures, and im sure they will be stupidly strong and most of the world will be playing them! will be a good test to see where im at after the break. I saw break, i never really take a break, its not really in my genes!!

I'm afraid you've hit the nail on the head.

To be sponsored by big business, where the deals are arranged by committees, you probably need to be a household name. They need to feel that the business is getting something back, in increased sales, brand recognition, and/or favourable publicity. They won't get increased sales or brand recognition from sponsoring you - at least not yet; and making donations to worthy causes is far better for favourable publicity.

I would guess you might have more luck with small-&-medium size business, where the owner makes all the decisions. But to get any meaningful amounts of cash, the owner would normally either need to be a friend or relative, or have a obsessively irrational love for the sport concerned.

Good luck anyway.

He's more than welcome to the spare room. Only problem is, I'm about 50 miles away from the venue.

hopefully i will get a chance to meet up with you guys if any of you are going and i manage to get there.
Im not 100% going right now as its basically like going really aboard somewhere distance wise and not sure i can do that car journey again, even though i won the bonus pool and masters you would think i have money.....think again! so im desperately sourcing every avenue for sponsorship. If something doesnt come up then its not meant to be and it wont be through lack of trying and i wont hold any grudges towards the system.......well...! ha.

I enjoy posting to all you guys and its neve a chore, a little time for me to write about whats is going on gives you invaluable insight i feel. things you wouldnt normally see or hear about.
