There has been a close battle to be top British teenager in the ATP rankings this year - the top 5 by ATP points in 2011 are:
30 Lewis Burton 28 Liam Broady 27 James Marsalek (including 1 point from New Delhi last week that is not on the rankings yet) 26 Oli Golding (including 1 point from Antalya last week and 2 so far from Antalya this week) 21 George Morgan
There is then a bit of a gap back to the only other two GB teenagers in the top 1000:
12 Toby Martin 11 Richard Gabb (including 1 point from Bendigo last week that is not on the rankings yet)

QF: (1) Ludovic Walter (FRA) WR 334 vs (Q) Oli Golding WR 709
Well done Oli
Now the Walter tie came as a bit of a shock, given Oli had supposedly seen off the no 4 seed in the first round, I'd been thinking qualifier then lower seed at worst, good stuff.
But I see it was you misleading me earlier, yes you Coco is number 6 seed this week, though he was no 4 last week. Boo.
Anyway, we know Oli can rise to a challenge, so still chances.

Oli has a chance here. I have seen Walter a few times and he is a very serve-dominated player. I watched a challenger match between him and Burquier as I had money on it. My abiding memory was that Burquier was dominating any rally that went over about five shots. If Oli can find a way to return the serve, he could manage an upset here. I would not fancy a tie-break though as against big-servers this is always dangerous (the 5 set Nadal v Isner match is a case in point).

Well done and good luck Oli.
Walter might not like to receive Oli's serve either if he serves like he did during R1 at Loughborough.

QF: (3) Paris Gemouchidis & Vaja Uzakov (GRE/UZB) WR 1109 vs Joris de Loore (BEL) & Oli Golding WR 1853
Gemouchidis & Uzakov were seeded three & lost to Oli & Jack Carpenter in the QF last week, so Oli should have a few useful tips for his partner this week.
Another good day at the office for Oli - & it would seem that, while he may not have the Indian sign on Rudy Coco, he has got it on Gemouchidis & Uzakov!
