Not bad.  All three get lower ranked opponents in R2 than they beat in R1.

You shouldn't have pointed that out, Indy!  It's bound to tempt fate...

Indeed! wink  After years of bitter disappointment which have me into a card-carrying , I never underestimate a Brit sportsman's/-woman's/team's capacity to lose a match/race he/she/it is generally expected to win!

You actually type it? There's a useful function you should try, and I think the techies call it Copy and Paste or something like that. wink

Yes, actually, I do.  I'm well versed in the art of copying & pasting, thank you very much, & indeed use the technique to save time whenever I can (including at work).  However, as I like to include players' Christian/first names when I post information about doubles draws & also foreign accents whenever possible & given that I find the ITF's format unspeakably messy & even slightly confusing, I have no alternative but to type it, however laborious the task (as far as I'm aware, it's impossible to copy information from a PDF document - I seem to recall that it did actually become possible, briefly, a while back, but Adobe appears to have put paid to that again cry ).

Still no sign of Alex's result, but he & Dan have given Konecny & Stakhovsky a walkover in the first round of the doubles, which would seem to indicate that either he or Dan has picked up an injury. hmm  Hope not.

Looks like quite a tussle!  Pity it wasn't three out of three again, but I assume Dan has had some kind of injury. cry

QF:  (Q) Andriej Kapas (POL) WR 793 vs (6) Alex Ward WR 407

Big matches for Josh & Alex today as the points for winning start to jump - every additional win for Josh makes him more likely to meet his goal of getting into AO qualifying, while a win for Alex today would definitely put him inside the top 350 (he might be there already but it is touch and go) and (barring unexpected tournament entries in December) see him end 2011 as the highest-ranked British man of those younger than Andy Murray.

I was thinking more on the lines that in singles, he should beat his opponent standing on one leg
