Good wins for Mel and, in particular, Samantha (who will play the winner of Lisa's match in R2), according to @tpwkelly at the event who tweeted me details and was reliable when he did the same from another event earlier in the year. (edit: drawsheet now updated on the TA site with scores confirmed)

A bad loss for Emily though, and while I get the impression Sanders is under-ranked, the scoreline suggests Emily still hasn't fully recovered from the problem that forced her to retire from her R1 match in Mount Gambier. A real pity, since in a tweet a few days ago she sounded very positive about having a coach with her for the first time for a while.

L32: Mel South WR 301 beat Tammi Patterson (AUS) WR 397 (CH 289 in Feb) by 6-2 3-6 6-3 smile
L32: (7) Emily Webley-Smith WR 241 lost to (WC) Storm Sanders (AUS) WR 733 by 4 & 2 bleh
L32: Samantha Murray WR 445 beat (5/Q) Misa Eguchi (JPN) WR 232 by 2 & 2 biggrin

The other two Brits play on Wednesday.

From a TA tweet, so 'to be confirmed' (once bitten, twice shy!) but if it is correct, an excellent win for Lisa, setting up an all-GB R2 match against Samantha Murray

L32: Lisa Whybourn WR 423 beat Sally Peers (AUS) WR 236 (CH 145 in Apr) by 6-1 7-6(0)

Hopefully that'll be right

Be an interesting battle,  In this coming Monday's rankings they there will just be one ranking point between them with Samantha GB No 10 on 84 points and Lisa GB No 11 with 83 points  ( around 440s in the world rankings ).   Currently a big gap up to the next active player, Tara Moore, GB No 8 on 156 points, with Katie O'Brien currently in the gap as GB No 9.

Four wins out of five is pretty good going, though it was a disappointing result for Emily.

I was expecing a comfortable win for Anna and a comfortable defeat for Lisa when I checked the scores this morning but that hasn't been the case at all.

Well at least we'll get 1 girl through to the QF.

Would be nice for Anna to get the suprise win but she hasn't been in good form since her injury really

Anna F: "i was 6-2 up today against rodionova when she pulled out because of her back, hope its not too bad. quarters tomorrow at 11.30 :)"

Mel suffered a 6th loss to Dellacqua, but the 6-7(3) 6-4 6-1 scoreline is much better than she managed against her last month and only the third time anyone has managed to take a set off the Aussie in her now 22-match winning streak.
