Pretty disappointing tournament overall. One good win each for Oli and Evo but with 8 brits in the draw the odd upset was always likely.

These results wont help persuade the LTA to increase the amount of challengers stage in the UK at the moment cry

Fairly dire draws for most of the Brits:

L32: (WC) Alex Ward WR 406 v (1) Flavio Cipolla (ITA) WR 80
L32: (WC) Josh Goodall WR 293 v (3) Andreas Beck (GER) WR 110
L32: (WC) Dan Evans WR 329 v (7) Jurgen Zopp (EST) WR 138 (H2H 0-1)
L32: (8) James Ward WR 157 v Peter Torebko (GER) WR 272
L32: (WC) Oliver Golding WR 754 v Matteo Marrai (ITA) WR 271

No sign of George Morgan after all.

well done to Oli but how are these draws performed? Are they behind closed doors in which case how come we cant "help" the brit W/c and qualies a bit more! Comparing with the current masters event in Paris where not a single qualifier or wild card faced a seed it seems a bit odd. Just asking?

Because that would be almost as bad as those Pakistani cricketers.

I presume you were being facetious.

They could 'spin' it that way if they want an excuse to hold fewer Challengers, but in reality it's probably because there are so few Challengers in the UK that the Brits didn't pick up more ranking points here. Three of the current top five Brits after Murray (i.e. more than half of the 5 Brits most likely to pick up points in Challengers) are in the US because they have the chance to play a string of Challengers over there this autumn as opposed to just one in the UK.

As it was, the rankings suggested we should get 3 qualifiers and 2 main draw match wins, which are exactly what we did get, it's just that the main draw wins were very good R1 wins instead of the 2 wins we 'should' have got (based on rankings) from James.

Last year was quite similar - we got 2 qualifiers and just 2 players into R2, Ward and Milton - the difference was that James (then unseeded) went on to reach the semi-finals.

Err, to be fair you also appeared to be suggesting that if the draw was held behind closed doors, the LTA should consider fixing the draw !!!

Like Maza I found it quite incredible that you could be being serious, but whatever, it was certainly worth quite calmly putting into some context, for the avoidance of doubt,  just what an absurdly outrageous act that would be.
