Week 44 - ITF ($10K) - Stockholm, Sweden Hard

Exactly. If her coaches think she can gain more from winning matches at the lower end of the senior tour then that's fine by me.
The only problem with that tactic is it limits the number of tournaments a year you can play. If you don't also keep a high enough junior ranking, the junior tournaments you can top those senior tournaments up with won't be competitive enough. Avoiding UK tournaments & grand slams is enough if a junior really wants to stay out of the limelight - the media hardly notices any other junior G1/GA events. The orange bowl gets the odd mention if a Brit wins it, but that's it.

This.

it does put limitations on her tournaments ( she can only play so many senior tournaments anyway and there does seem an arguement for mixing in high quality tournaments ) , and particularly if Eleanor, her family and coach don't seek it, doing well in these tournaments and getting her junior ranking up won't really bring that much hype at all.  These are not Junior Slams.

They may have their reasons, and generally she does seem to be moving in the right direction, but staying out of the limelight doesn't really seem of any particular relevance here.

Anyway, hard luck on the QF loss, Eleanor, but more good experience gained and a few more points earned.

Just noticed an interesting pair of names in the final:

F: (Q)Antonia Lottner (GER) d. Quirine Lemoine (NED) 46 64 75
