Wardy managed to sneak in qualifying here and has a decent draw.

 

(4) Pere Riba (ESP) WR 76 vs. James Ward (GBR) WR 152

Vasek Pospisil (CAN) WR 123 vs. Eduard Roger-Vasselin WR 100

 

Riba is pretty hopeless on hard, lost 1-6, 2-6 against Benneteau last week. He is also on a 1-5 in his last 6 appearance on hard.

Here's hoping James gets another Top 100 scalp but Valencia is apparently very slow so that could favour Riba.

Winner of this plays Vasselin/Pospisil for a place in main draw.

10 points on offer if Ward can see off Riba, 20 for qualifying

It would be mid-day BST but play seems to have started late because the previous match, which was supposed to start at 10 BST, has only been going for an hour. 6-1 1-1* to Kunitsyn.

James 14/14 when he has got his 1st serve in, which he has done 61% of the time. The 1st set still way too close to call though!

Suddenly Wardy's 1st serve goes missing - Riba gets his 1st bp and it's a set point, James saves it but Riba brings up another one and takes it 5-7

Both players won 39 points in the 1st set.
