At least we are assured one semi-finalist.

Boo to the "at least..."    smile

I'd prefer it more balanced and in a home future, where players in general tend to perform better than normal against rankings, for the Brits to be competing more evenly over the draw.

Certainly agree with you Indiana.

Anyway it is a big couple of weeks for a few of a guys. For a lot of them two good weeks here and at Cardiff could turn an okay year into a good one while a couple of others are pretty desperate for points.

LOL I think he was referring to the dodgy lighting making the sports centre feel depressing (and making it harder to play) - isn't Scotstoun one of the less depressing bits of Glasgow? (not that that would be saying much, especially at this time of year!)

A real pity Josh & Bloomers had to meet in R1.

Pity Evo & Smethurst had to meet in R1 too.

Rubbish draw.

For some reason I was convinced that this one would go to three sets.

Yes, there were 3 or 4 all-GB matches that should have happened in a later round if they were going to happen at all.

I don't know the scores but Wardinator met the Terminator and lost to 1438 ranked Scott Griekspor
or in straight sets. Bugby was one set all but down 1-3.
Close battle between Rice and Thornley. David nudging the first on a tie break after Sean had chances to win it but he was 3-1 ahead in the second.

Goodall looked much fitter than last year, but Bloomers still did not look to be moving well. Smethurst was up 5-3 against Evo in the first set but became very error prone to win only one more game to lose 5-7 1-6.

Glasgow is not normally depressing. The centre is nicely situated and the lighting is not bad. But the weather has been horrendous. Heavy rain high winds and floods and now terribly cold. Dark horrible and brooding, especially as most players are coming from 30 degree temeratures in the med!
