Apparently no play in Turkey yesterday due to rain and it was also raining this morning.

Once qualifying is finally done Rice will play a qualifier while Thornley well play Tuna Altuna.

Surprisingly they have decided not to play doubles.

I assume they're not playing doubles because they're intending to come home for the GB Futures after this week's event so don't want to risk having to hang around for too long, given that there are still two qualifying rounds left to play. They are getting to desperate now that they are playing qualifying matches on both clay and hard courts tomorrow!

At least the conditions should suit Sean's opponent.

If they keep up the pace they've had this year, they're going to get to the point where winning a 10K is of marginal value to them. They get 12 additional points from the last one. Then they've two "8"s left and then straight into "10"s. At which point each tournament win at the 10K level is worth just 8 additional points. It would make sense for them to go for some local challengers perhaps? (Or not ... I don't know all the factors that go into scheduling equations)

As I have already posted elsewhere, in two weeks time Rice and Thornley are playing different events. I don't know what to read into that.

At least one of them has said they still want to make it in singles and they must have realised that they can't make much further progress up the doubles rankings by just playing Futures for the reasons Spectator mentioned, so maybe the medium-term plan is to play Challenger main draw doubles and try Challenger qualifying for singles and shorter-term, they are going to give doubles a bit of a break and try to get their singles rankings up to the level when they can be sure to get into Challenger qualifying (or perhaps even get seeded in it) whenever they want to.

L32: (6) David Rice WR 513 beat (Q) Jakub Lustyk (CZE) WR 1086 6-4, 4-6, 7-2

NB: Both the draw sheet on the ATP site have the third "set" score as 7-2. Furthermore all 3 of today's matches that went to a third "set" have a score involving a seven. My assumption is that due to weather delays they played best of two sets with a standard tie break used to settle matches that were 1 set all.
