Really well done, Dan  smile

I replied to a suggestion recently about Brits not really having balls when it comes to it that I didn't really see that particularly anymore than other countries.

And in the last week or two I think there have been quite a number of examples of really good fightbacks and winning out in tight situations.

Lots of very decent performances by the men this week, err maybe USA challenger excepted.

When George won in Week 38, he beat Marzi (L16), Blomgren (SF) and Alex (F) after losing the first set in each match.

That's one of the best double comebacks by a Brit I can remember - as stevemcqueen says, pity there isn't a stream this week, but at least there were livescores (and enough people here to do shifts following it) that we could see how it went - I doubt we'd have guessed quite how dramatic the twists and turns were if we'd only seen the final result.

SF: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 505 beat (2) Timo Nieminen (FIN) WR 356 (CH 254 in 2003) by 2-6 7-6(7) 6-3 biggrin

FI: (4) Dan Smethurst WR 505 v (5) Carl Bergman (SWE) WR 545

Bergman lost in the Final to the Wardinator last week but has not dropped a set so far this week.

Not bad for a poster currently in Jersey City (& due to move on to Washington tomorrow), eh? wink  Just takes longer to get to things on a strange computer without a handy list of Favourites... hmm

All perfectly innocent, I assure you:  I'm on holiday.  Travelling with a friend who's based in Toronto, which is where I "kicked off" last Friday, & whose mum lives in JC.  We're due to return to TO after the Columbus Day (US)/Thanksgiving (Canada) holiday next Tuesday & I'm back in the UK next Friday, in good time for the RWC QF agin the Frogs! wink

I thought England were playing France in the RWC tomorrow morning? Or do you support Wales or Ireland, who could conceivably play them next weekend?
