Young Jack Sock is a grand slam champion isn't he? It seems to be showing

Although the score is  5 -4* Wardy is barely getting any return points this set.

Wardy is 0/4 on BP's while Sock is 1/1

All of Wardy's bps came in the very first game of the match.

Eek last time I looked, James was a m/b up in this tiebreak, and now he has lost it 7-3

Not sure what you mean by that LOL, but you made a good point about the intensity of tennis matches at this level and the effect that might have on scores in FQR matches, even if a player isn't the sort who would be likely to consider tanking.

V. Disappointing for Wardy. Great result for Jack Sock.

That's actually Wardy's first defeat in R1 of a Challenger main draw since Tallahassee just under 6 months ago - he had won 8 Challenger R1 matches in a row since then, though after the first two of those he lost in QR1 of the Challenger in Alessandria.

Tallahassee was his fifth Challenger R1 loss in a row, which shows how far he has come in the last 6 months!

Count - the original OoP for today did change overnight after some of yesterday's matches were rained off.

Edit: Ah, the tank! LOL I hadn't even thought about that.

Jamie lost 6-1 3-6 6-4. Given yesterday's result and the first set score, it appears Jamie did well to take the second set.

Don't think the doubles has been mentioned yet:

R1:  Simon Greul (GER) & James Ward vs (3) Freddie Nielsen & Travis Parrott (DEN/USA) bleh

James & Simon were replaced by the qualifiers, Duclos & Hubble.  It would appear that James has some kind of wrist injury. cry
