7-5 6-1 Great win for Robbo and another update required on the career best wins thread.

Great result for Laura - she is now consistently beating players ranked c. 50 in the world.

You have to suspect that Martic didn't cope well with losing set points in the first set, but Laura took full advantage, and it's never easy coming from behind against a much higher rank opponent.

That's some win - especially that 8-game streak in the middle saving set points on the way!

Not quite - Martic is WR 47 and Morita was WR 46 when Robson beat her at the US Open. But two top 50 scalps in 6 weeks is very impressive

I assume Laura will play Czink in the FQR, since she was serving for the match at 6-2 *6-5 v Falconi, but that may be a dangerous assumption to make. The last update I can find on Twitter was 45 minutes ago though.

Czink will be a tough opponent, I think that Laura finds it more difficult against experienced opponents who know how to exploit weaknesses in her game. Falconi would have been my preferred opponent as Laura beat her back in the spring

Strange, TF saying she won 8 games in a row, but tracking back on twitter, it looks like she was 3-4 and bps down but held that game.

Makes no difference to the final result obviously

Maybe Mr Beijingles was confused. He also said Laura broke to lead 2-0 in the 2nd which means she served first in the match. Which also means she couldn't have been serving at 3-4 in the first. Must have been 3-5 instead.

Wonder why they have 4 bye's seemingly randomly positioned in the main draw (unlike tournaments where the top 8 seeds get a R1 BYE). It's not as if they have a shortage of players.

This is doing my head in - if she got broken in the 5th game of the 2nd set, she can't have been serving in the 8th game of the 1st. confuse

Ah ... I think maybe the tweeter who wrote "Robson up 7-5, after being down 3-4 and break points" meant she was down 3-5 and break/set points. Easily done if you are trying to follow more than one match at once.

Yes, I agree. If it is Czink, she is 9-0 v Brits stretching back to 2001. She is currently ranked 144 with a career high of 37 in 2009 but she upset Sam Stosur at Wimbledon this year so is still capable of putting in a very big performance. She also beat Heather in Nottingham this year.
