QR1: Callum Kempe UNR beat Dion Earl (USA) UNR by w/o
QR1: Rogan Egerton UNR beat Masayoshi Ono (JPN) UNR by 2-6 6-2 6-2

QR2: Callum Kempe UNR lost to Cliff Nguyen (USA) WR 1520 by 2 & 0
QR2: Rogan Egerton UNR lost to (q5) Joshua Zavala (USA) WR 1118 by 4 & 1

L32: (3) Chris Eaton WR 352 v (Q) Shane Vinsant (USA) WR 1438
L32: (2) Dan Cox WR 353 v (Q) Sanam Singh (IND) WR 1088 (CH 733 in 2006)

Vinsant is 17 and current world junior no. 30 (CH 19 in April) - he lost 3&0 to Liam at Roehampton this year and 3&4 to Oli at the Orange Bowl back in 2009, and also (with partner) lost to both of them in the doubles Final at the Trofeo Bonfiglio this year.

Singh was world junior no. 4 in 2006, though Chris beat him in a junior event in Bangladesh in 2004.

Btw, the 2011 NCAA Champion who beat Neal Skupski in R1 last week went on to win the title.

Rather more relevantly re Sanam Singh ( smile ) Dan will be well aquainted with him, since they met in the first round of both singles and doubles last week, with rather a tight contest in both, Dan only winning the singles match  4 - 6   7 - 6 (3)   6 - 4

Apparently Singh is still looked on as a promising player and now making the transition from college to the tour.

Strange, I knew I recognised the name but the H2H didn't show anything (I wonder what I clicked by mistake!) - another college ringer then.

If you're looking at the ATP site, is there not a week's timelag for recording any results from futures?

Sounds like a great excuse, but I can't use it LOL - I checked it on ITF.

I wonder if Chris felt that his doubles exploits got in the way of his singles progress in Costa Mesa last week or maybe the fact that Neal Skupski's nowhere in evidence this week had something to do with it.  Either way, only Dan Cox is having a go in the doubles this week:

R1:  Lee Singer & Sanam Singh (USA/IND) UNR vs (2) Dan Cox & Adam Hubble (AUS) WR 952

Neil Skupski will be playing collegiate tennis now, won't he? It should be their Autumn season now.

You were right  to be sceptical, Indy:

It's Cox's birthday today, maybe he wanted to go celebrate it instead of playing tennis?
