Junior Davis Cup Finals, San Luis Potosi, Mexico (Week 39)

After finishing third and second in the past two years the British team (Kyle Edmund, Luke Bambridge and Evan Hoyt) will hope to go one better this year. The draw and opening ceremony is streamed live at http://www.lalomacd.com.mx/2011/ on Monday evening. Once matches get underway there will be streaming from the two main courts.

The 16 teams qualified are Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand and Tunisia.  Ones to watch out for are France & Italy, well known from qualifying, Chile (who won the World Junior Tennis Under14s last year), Australia (captained by Pat Cash, and including Nick Kyrgios who took a set off Liam Broady at Wimbledon) and Japan (who include the highest ranked player behind Kyle - Yoshihito Nishioka)

GBR get their campaign underway in impressive style: Evan Hoyt beating Chayanon Kaewsuto of Thailand 6-0 6-1

They are in a nice looking group with Canada the other seeds (8), Germany and Thailand. The Germans are quite strong, and the Canadian number one hammered Toby Mitchell and Samm Butler in recent Canadian tournaments, but GBR should coast through to the semis

Luke is playing the top singles and holds a tough opening game against Pruchya Itsaro before breaking for 2-0. Luke is presumably playing as they don't think Kyle is needed for singles against this opposition. Updates courtesy of LTA twitter and Alex Kay (Daily Mail)

Alex Kay: "Boy, that was tough but bambridge takes the set on a thai-break 7-5"

He must be a reader of this board with a pun like thatwink

The boys play Germany today with Luke and Kyle nominated for singles. Kyle has apparently been unwell (a common problem in this tournament)

The match against Germany is proving to be quite tricky. Luke was 4-1 down in the second set before coming though 6-3 4-6 9-7, whilst Kyle has dropped the second set from 4-2 up so is 6-2 5-7

Great stuff as with the only other possible combination of singles players we beat Canada to secure a semifinal for the third year running

(1) GBR 2 (8) Canada 0

Evan Hoyt d. Brayden Schnur 6-2 7-5
Kyle Edmund d. Hugo Di Feo 6-3 5-7 6-1

Alex Kay: "Britain 1 canada 0. And the crowd sings 'you're just a small village near america...' ............" It was more cant-ada than can-ada today from the opposition"

Doubles to come and then a day off (probably) before a semi against France, Japan or Tunisia - a step up but we will be the favourites

The doubles didn't last long - Kyle and Luke retiring at 1-4 down against Schnur and Di Feo - hopefully precautionary.

Here's an interview with Evan
